ADMISSION TO HOLY CROSS SCHOOL – Father Neil has received several supplementary forms for signature and realises the anxiety and concern of parents, but because of his recovery from cancer / surgery he has not been able to sign them.  He asks parents to be patient and is suggesting a time when he could BRIEFLY meet with those who have left forms so that he may countersign them. He is suggesting either Monday December 10th or Saturday December 15th between 3.30pm and 4.00pm.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION – Parents of children NOT in Holy Cross School who wish their child / children (in School Year 3 and above) to receive their First Holy Communion next year, must post through the presbytery letter box the name, address, school and next of kin details (with contact number) in writing before January 1st. The course for these children will begin on January 12th at 10.00am – whether or not Father Neil is back from convalescence.  It will take place in the Father Berry Room in the Church Hall

SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint John of the Cross was born near Avila and was ordained a priest in 1567.  He then indicated his intent to join the strict Carthusian Order, which appealed to him because of its encouragement of solitary and silent contemplation.A journey from Salamanca to Medina del Campo changed this idea  when he met the charismatic Carmelite nun, Teresa of Jesus.  She was seeking to restore the purity of the Carmelite Order. Saint John, along with Saint Teresa of Avila, is considered as a founder of the Discalced Carmelites. John was canonised in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII.  He is one of thirty six Doctors of the Church. His feast is celebrated on December 14th.

IN MEMORIAM – Please pray for the repose of the souls of parishioners whose anniversaries occur at this time: James Kinneary, Agnes Richardson, Bridget Mary Jeffrey, Charles Philip Gregory, Agnes Cecilia Jones, Winifred Wing, Dorothy Fleming, Michael Joseph Madden, , Amy Murtagh, Rosalind Lucy Shrubb, Aaron Leon Johnston and Michael John Fleming.
