For Children NOT in Holy Cross School: First Holy Communion - 2019 - This year there will be instruction in the months of January - May immediately prior to the First Holy Communion Day itself (Saturday 8th /15th June at 12 noon). This instruction will be led by Mrs J Jackson and Mrs R Griffiths, parish catechists. It will take place on five Saturday mornings beginning with the 10am parish Mass and continuing in the Fr Berry room until 12.00 noon on the following dates: 12th January, 16th February, 16th March, 13th April, and 11th May 2019. INSPIRATIONAL ARTWORK HEADING TO SUTTON COLDFIELD CHURCH An inspiring, life-size statue of Christ, made exclusively of nails, will soon be installed at a Sutton Coldfield church. Sorrows of Steel, by sculptor Shaun Gagg, will be a focal point for the newly-refurbished Lady Chapel of Holy Cross and St Francis Catholic Church, Walmley. The proposal for the installation has been approved by the Archdiocese of Birmingham Committee for Art and Architecture. Parish priest, Father Neil Bayliss, said: “I thought the sculpture should be in a church where Christians can see it, reflect on it and get inspiration.
