GOING INTO AND RETURNING FROM HOSPITAL – It is most important that you let Fr Neil know if you are going into hospital in order to make sure that you are visited by the Chaplain and receive the Sacraments. But you must make it clear which hospital and, if possible, which ward.  It is equally important that you let Fr Neil know when you return home.  If you are unable to attend Mass, he will arrange for you to receive Holy Communion at home.

SAINTS OF THE WEEK – Saint John Fisher, Bishop (1469 – 1535) and Saint Thomas More, (1477 – 1535) Martyrs. St John Fisher studied theology at Cambridge and became Bishop of Rochester.  His friend, Thomas More, wrote of him ‘’I reckon in this realm no one man in wisdom, learning and long approved virtue together, meet to be matched and compared with him’’. St Thomas More was born in Long and was Chancellor of King Henry VIII. As a family man and a public servant, his life was an expression of a rare synthesis of human sensitivity and Christian wisdom. St John Fisher and his friend St Thomas More gave up their lives in testimony to the unity of the Church and to the indissolubility of marriage. Their feast is celebrated on June 22nd.
