SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION – This year Canon David Evans, Episcopal Visitor for Birmingham, will confer the sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 27th February 2020. Parents who have children in Year 6 at Holy Cross School or any other school and wish their child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in February 2020, must register their child at a meeting in church at 7.00pm on Thursday October 3rd 2019.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2020 – First Holy Communions will take place in the parish on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th June 2020. Parents who have children in Year 3 at Holy Cross School  or any other school and wish their child to receive their First Holy Communion in June 2020, must register their child at a meeting in church at 7.00pm on Thursday October 17th 2019.

RED MISSION BOXES – Please bring in your Red Mission Box for emptying. It will be returned to you before the end of this month.

BLUE GIFT AID ENVELOPES – When your supply runs out, please collect your new box from the parish office.

HOLY CROSS GUILD – There was a brilliant inaugural meeting of the Guild last Wednesday, some 38 people turned up and a further 20 indicated that they would like to join. The next event is to visit the Winterbourne Gardens 25th September, arrive for 11.30am entrance and guided tour will cost £10. See Martin or June for further details.

BAPTISED AND SENT: OUR CALL TO BE MISSIONARY DISCIPLES – Saturday October 12th.  10.00am to 5.00pm at Saint Peter’s School, Solihull. SAINT JOSEPH’S HOME, COLESHILL – The home offers residential care to older people and those living with dementia.  Respite rooms are available for those who could benefit from a short stay. Daily Mass is celebrated in the chapel. For more information contact Father Hudson’s Care on 01675 434500.

CONGRATULATIONS BISHOP WALSH SCHOOL – Once again this year the students and staff at BWS have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication by another set of excellent results both in GCSE’s and A- levels.

SAINT OF THE WEEK – Pope Saint Gregory l also known as Saint Gregory the Great was born in Rome around 540 and died in Rome on March 12th 604. He was elected Pope in 590 and is remembered as a reformer and an excellent administrator ‘’founder’’ of the medieval papacy, which exercised both secular and spiritual power. His epithet, ‘’the Great’’ reflects his status as a writer as well as a ruler. As the fourth and final of the traditional Latin ‘’Fathers of the Church’’, Gregory was the first exponent of truly medieval, sacramental spirituality. His feast day is celebrated on September 3rd.
