CORONAVIRUS – UPDATE From January 4th 2021 – Please remember that the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday remains ‘waived’ – meaning you do NOT have to go to Mass at the moment. Baptisms, Marriages and Funerals will be allowed in church but with legal restrictions on the number of people. MASS OFFERED IN CHURCH Everyone entering Church must wear a face covering and will be asked for their name and contact details the only exceptions are those under 5 years of age. Holy Cross can hold a maximum of 80 people socially distanced at 1m plus. Communion will be in the hand and under one kind only. At the end of every Mass the church will need to be cleaned before the next Mass. Please enter by the Car Park doors and leave by the ‘Presbytery end’ doors. Use the hand sanitising gel upon entrance. Observe social distancing at all times when in church. Do NOT come if you are ill with or have symptoms of Covid-19. To ensure fairness and an equal share of opportunity for attending Mass parishioners are again invited to weekend Masses as follows: Sat 6pm Surnames starting with A – G. Sun 8.30am H – M. Sun 10.30am N – Z. In the event that more than 80 people turn up for any of the above masses they will not be granted access. After Mass please remember that under the latest regulations people should not gather and chat outside of church.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS – Fr Neil will lead Stations of the Cross every Friday at 10.00am socially distanced in church – without hymns followed by Mass.
LENT COURSE 2021 – Fr Neil has set up a ‘professionally filmed’ six week Lent course which will run on a Tuesday at 2pm . It will operate as a shared ‘Zoom’ screen – so you will need to have access to a pc/ipad and an internet connection to take part. If you are interested in the latter please indicate your interest by emailing him. firstname.lastname@example.org
HOLY WEEK & EASTER IN HOLY CROSS – There has been an enormous demand already for tickets for Holy Week and Easter, and the 10.30am Mass on Easter Day is already ‘sold out’. Do not worry – if there is sufficient demand Fr Neil will say a third mass at 12.30 to accommodate those who could not get an earlier ticket (tbc). But as he said last week some things cannot be repeated like the Good Friday Liturgy or the Vigil, so if there is the demand for those who could not make the 3pm liturgy he will offer Stations of the Cross at 6pm. Please search this website for the post/page entitled Holy Week and Easter at Holy Cross 2021 (Tickets). You will need one ticket for each person attending each of the Masses/Liturgies
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – The Blessed Sacrament is currently exposed at 9am every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the 10am Mass (as long as it is not a requiem Mass). If you would like some ‘quiet space’ to pray with the Lord, in an unstructured and informal way, do come and join the few who do.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK IN OUR PARISH – May the Lord grant them consolation, peace and healing. May God give all involved in health care in hospital or in the community, grace, strength and perseverance.
IN MEMORIAM – Please pray for the repose of the souls of parishioners whose anniversaries occur at this time: Alan Collins, John Banks, Ellen McMullan, Margaret Curnock, Peter Gennoy, John Loughlin, Walter Hollis, Margaret Howard, Brian Perry, Doreen Upton, Leslie Davis, Lynne Lawrence and Patrick McSharry.
+ REST IN PEACE + Please pray for the repose of the souls of Seamus Atkinson, Joseph Gaffney & Kelvin Hopwood (Snr). Kelvin’s requiem will be on 1st March.
