CORONAVIRUS – UPDATE From October 23rd Please remember that the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday remains ‘waived’ – meaning you do NOT have to go to Mass until the First Sunday of Advent (November 28th). It is possible that the Bishops of England and Wales will issue an update this week  MASS OFFERED IN CHURCH

As an act of Christian love, everyone entering Church is asked to wear a face covering, because there are members of the congregation who are immune-suppressed and vulnerable, he only exceptions are those under 5 years of age. This is no longer a legal requirement but is still recommended by the government. Do NOT come if you are ill with or have symptoms of Covid-19. ‘Social distancing measures’ are relaxed and a system of a red card is in use – if people would like others to refrain from getting too close to them – It will read ‘Please give me space’.  If someone puts this near them please respect it.  The last three rows of benches either side at the back of church are not for families but for vulnerable individuals who need greater social distancing. Fr Neil needs 4 volunteers to help clean our church after the Saturday 6.00pm and Sunday 10.30 Masses.

CHRIST THE KING – Today as a part of World Youth Day Holy Cross & St Francis’ parish wishes to thank our young people for all they contribute to our parish community – their time, energy, ideas, questions, service, doubts, joy, enthusiasm and love. Our parish would not be the same without you.

NOVEMBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS – Parishioners are invited to write names of deceased relatives and friends in the white envelope available from the church porch. These Holy Souls will be remembered at Masses in November. (Please DO NOT enclose money)

RCIA JOURNEY IN FAITH – Anyone who wishes to become a Catholic or any who may wish to learn more of their faith, a programme of lessons will continue on Monday evenings after the 7.00pm Mass.

APPEAL TO ASSIST ASYLUM SEEKERS – Father Neil thanks all who contributed so generously to this appeal.  Three car loads of goods were taken to St Chad’s Sanctuary on Friday morning for onward distribution.
