CORONAVIRUS – UPDATE From August 16th 2021 – Please remember that the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday remains ‘waived’ –  meaning you do NOT have to go to Mass at the moment. Baptisms, Marriages and Funerals are allowed in church with no legal restrictions on the number of people.  MASS OFFERED IN CHURCH – As an act of Christian love everyone entering Church is asked to wear a face covering, because there are members of the congregation who are immune-suppressed and vulnerable, the only exceptions are those under 5 years of age. This is no longer a legal requirement but is still recommended by the government. Everyone will still be asked for their name and contact details – ‘track and trace’,  which we will have to continue to do until the government decides not to do so. Do NOT come if you are ill with  or have symptoms of Covid-19. The ‘one-way’ system of entrance/exit has been suspended and you may light your own candles. ‘Social distancing measures’ are relaxed and a system of a red card is in use –  if people would like others to refrain from getting too close to them – It will read ‘Please give me space’ .  If someone puts this near them please respect it. The last four rows of benches  either side at the back of church., are still segregated/socially distanced.

CHILDREN IN  SCHOOL YEARS 3 & 6 – Parents of children in school years 3 & 6 whether in Holy Cross School or in another school locally will need to register their children to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion & Confirmation for 2022. There will be an information meeting in Church on Tuesday 5th October 6-6.30pm for Year 3 (First Holy Communion) and 6.30-7pm for year 6 (Confirmation).

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – The Blessed Sacrament is exposed for silent adoration usually for an hour before mass every  Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday (unless there is a Requiem or funeral service).

CATENIANS? A NEW START – ‘Meet the friend you never knew you had’. No longer the preserve of business men, in an attempt to ‘keep up with the times’, when the local Catenians next meet (September 13th 7.30pm) everyone will be welcome. If you fancy a good meal with an interesting talk book your place contact online: https://suttoncoldfieldcateniancircle232.com/what-we-do-2/  The next talk will be given by Emeritus Professor of Public Health Oxford University, Professor Amanda Burls entitled:  ‘Kill as few people as possible’
