SENIOR CITIZENS’ LUNCH – The next lunch will take place this Tuesday July 9th immediately following Mass at 12 noon. Please sign the list in the porch if you wish to attend.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP BBQ – Children are invited to join a Summer BBQ in the parish gardens next Sunday July 14th immediately after the 10.30 Mass. Parents are requested to complete the form available from the table in the porch and return the form at the start of the BBQ.

SAINT JOSEPH’S HOME, COLESHILL – The home offers residential care to older people and those living with dementia.  Respite rooms are available for those who could benefit from a short stay. Daily Mass is celebrated in the chapel. For more information contact Father Hudson’s care on 01675 44500.

20/20 CRICKET – If you wish to join the parish annual cricket outing on Sunday July 21st  the cost will be exactly the same as last year. For ticket and a seat on the coach £22 for adults and £6 for under16’s.  Please put you name on the list in the porch and bring your payment to the Parish Office.

BISHOP WALSH SCHOOL INFORMATION EVENING – An Information Evening for parents of children at present in Year 5, who would like to apply for a place at Bishop Walsh Catholic School for September 2020,  will take place at Bishop Walsh School on Monday July 8th at 6.30pm.

CAFOD is looking for a new staff member to work with volunteers in our parishes and schools around the Archdiocese.  It is a full time and permanent role based in Walsall but with flexibility.  It is a great opportunity for someone who cares passionately about poverty and injustice.  Please see cafod.org.uk/jobs for details. COLUMBAN INTER RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE SUMMER SCHOOL – The above will take place on three consecutive evenings – July 17th, 18th and 19th 7.00pm – 9.30pm There will be visits to different places of worship in Birmingham, discussion on the Church’s teaching on inter-religious dialogue (IRD) and a chance to meet IRD practitioners from different faiths.  For more information and to register please email: volunteer@columbans.co.uk or call 07 848 281 190

SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint Benedict, Abbot and Patron of Europe, proclaimed by Pope Paul VI. Saint Benedict was born in Norica, Italy in 480 and was sent to Rome to be educated. He chose to live a solitary life at Subiaco and eventually organised a form of monastic life  in twelve monasteries.  The monks who joined Saint Benedict devoted themselves to work and prayer.  In the great abbey on Monte Cassino, which he founded, he wrote his Rule. His Rule established the spirituality and way of life of monastic communities ever since.  because of his wonderful influence in the formation of Christendom in the Middle Ages.  He died in 550 and his feast is celebrated on July 11th.
