SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION – This year Canon David Evans, Episcopal Visitor for Birmingham, will confer the sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 27th February 2020. Parents who have children in Year 6 at Holy Cross School or any other school and wish their child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in February 2020, must register their child at a meeting in church at 7.00pm on Thursday October 3rd 2019.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2020 – First Holy Communions will take place in the parish on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th June 2020. Parents who have children in Year 3 at Holy Cross School or any other school and wish their child to receive their First Holy Communion in June 2020,  must register their child at a meeting in church at 7.00pm on Thursday October 17th 2019.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ LUNCH – The next lunch will take place in the Church Hall on Tuesday Sept. 17th immediately following Mass at 12 noon. Please sign the list in the porch if you wish to join us.

HOLY CROSS GUILD – The next event is a visit to Winterbourne Gardens in Edgbaston on September 25th. Remember – this is an open invitation to all who are free to attend. Arrive 11.30am prompt. Cost £12.00 for admission and guided tour. Refreshments are available. Trains from Sutton / Wylde Green to University.  10 minute walk to Winterbourne. There is limited parking for those who wish to go by car.

BISHOP WALSH CATHOLIC SCHOOL OPEN EVENING – Wednesday 11th September 6.30pm – 8.30pm Year 6 pupils and their families are welcome to visit Bishop Walsh Catholic School for the September intake 2020.

SAINT JOSEPH’S HOME, COLESHILL – The home offers residential care to older people and those living with dementia.  Respite rooms are available for those who could benefit from a short stay. Daily Mass is celebrated in the chapel.For more information contact Father Hudson’s Care on 01675 434500.

RED MISSION BOXES – Please bring in your Red Mission Box for emptying.  It will be returned to you before the end of this month.

BLUE GIFT AID ENVELOPES – When your supply runs out, please collect your new box from the parish office.

SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint Osburg (c1016) Saint Osburg was the first abbess of the nunnery founded at Coventry by King Canute. She worked to care for the poor and the vulnerable of the city. Her cult was confirmed in the fifteenth century, but she may have been a saint of a much earlier date. Her feast is celebrated on September 9th.
