CORONAVIRUS – UPDATE From January 4th 2021 – Please remember that the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday remains ‘waived’ – meaning you do NOT have to go to Mass at the moment. Baptisms, Marriages and Funerals will be allowed in church but with legal restrictions on the number of people.  MASS OFFERED IN CHURCH Everyone entering Church must wear a face covering and will be asked for their name and contact details the only exceptions are those under 5 years of age. Holy Cross can hold a maximum of 80 people socially distanced at 1m plus. Communion will be in the hand and under one kind only. At the end of every Mass the church will need to be cleaned before the next Mass. Please enter by the Car Park doors and leave by  the ‘Presbytery end’ doors. Use the hand sanitising gel upon entrance. Observe social distancing at all times when in church. Do NOT come if you are ill with or have symptoms of Covid-19. To ensure fairness and an equal share of opportunity for attending Mass parishioners are again  invited to weekend Masses as follows:    Sat 6pm  Surnames starting with  A – G. Sun 8.30am H – M.  Sun 10.30am  N – Z. In the event that more than 80 people turn up for any of the above masses they will not be granted access. After Mass please remember that under the latest regulations people should gather and chat outside of church.

CONFIRMATION 2020-2021 – Sadly Fr Neil has had to concur with bishop David that confirmation scheduled for February  this year will need to be postponed, because of the pandemic. Fr Neil will try to organise new dates as soon as possible.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2021 – Parents of children NOT in Holy Cross School who wish their child / children (in School Year 3 and above) to receive their First Holy Communion later this year, (hopefully in June) must either post through the presbytery letter box the name, address, school and next of kin details (with contact number) of their child/children in writing or email Fr Neil before February 1st. fr.neil.bayliss@rcaob.org.uk There will be no preparation classes offered this year because of the pandemic. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK IN OUR PARISH – May the Lord grant them consolation, peace and healing. May God give all involved in health care in hospital or in the community, grace, strength and perseverance.

GOING INTO AND RETURNING FROM HOSPITAL – Even in these difficult times with Walmley being in lockdown it is most important that you let Fr Neil know if you are going into hospital (any hospital) in order to make sure that you are visited by the Chaplain and receive the Sacraments and so that Fr Neil to pray for you. You can also then have your name on the list of parishioners who are sick (if you wish) so that others can then also pray for you. It is equally important that you let Fr Neil know when you return home.

IN MEMORIAM – Please pray for the repose of the souls of parishioners whose anniversaries occur at this time: Eleazar Wagstaff, Gertrude Callaghan, Winifred Brady, Mary Stapleton, Mary Moore, Helen Comerford, Catherine Hughes, Samuel Campbell, Anthony Bailey, Mary Tetstall, Betty Tarpey, Anne Kiernan, Michelle Odyniec, Mary Robertson, Peter Drury, Katie Dowd and Kathleen Flanagan.
