SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint Nicholas was born on March 15th 270.  He was an historic 4th century saint and Bishop of Myra in Lycia (part of modern day Turkey). He was known for the many miracles attributed to his intercession.  He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes left out for him and thus became the model for Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas died in December 343. He is patron saint of children, sailors, merchants and Russia. His feast day is on December 6th.
