BISHOP WALSH YEAR 6 AND SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING – Year 6 and Year 11 pupils are welcome to visit Bishop Walsh Catholic School for its annual open evening. SUTTON COLDFIELD CATENIANS – Sutton Coldfield Catenians are holding their Annual Charity Race Night on Monday October 13th at 7.30pm at Moor Hall Hotel. Cost £20.00 includes a two course meal. The event is to raise funds for Tabor Living (in partnership with Father Hudson’s Caritas) which provides accommodation and support for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Birmingham. SAINT OF THE WEEK Saint Osburg (c1016) Saint Osburg was the first abbess of the nunnery founded by King Canute at Coventry. She worked to care for the poor and the vulnerable of the city. Her cult was confirmed in the fifteenth century, but she may be a saint of a much earlier date. In the nineteenth century revival of Catholicism, Bishop Ullathorne dedicated the first Catholic Church in the City to Saint Osburg and on September 9th 1845 the new church was consecrated by Bishop Wiseman.
