EASTER THANKS Many things have to be done to prepare for the Holy Week Liturgies – the church cleaned, the grounds maintained, flowers arranged, servers trained, music and hymns practised and readers prepared …We owe our thanks to those few who have so generously given their time. They surely deserve a Happy Easter.

SPECIAL YEAR OF SAINT FRANCIS AND PLENARY INDULGENCE – The year 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi. Pope Leo XVI has proclaimed the year of Saint Francis a special Jubilee Year with attached plenary indulgences. (Read Catechism of the Catholic Church nos 1471 – 1473). Archbishop Bernard Longley has granted permission to include the Sisters’ Convent ChapeL at 192 Hawthorn Road, Kingstanding, B44 8PU, among the Franciscan Jubilee sites of the Archdiocese where pilgrims may be welcomed throughout the Jubilee Year.
SPONSORED WALK – Tony McGuigan a parishioner here at Holy Cross as well as a SVP member for this parish is undertaking the Camino de Santiago Pilgrim Walk into the shrine of the apostle James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The pilgrim walk will be 119km and will be over 6 days. Tony is fundraising for the SVP and would welcome any donations with all donations given in full to the SVP. ANNUAL DIOCESAN THANKSGIVING MASS FOR MARRIAGE
– An invitation is extended to married couples, those celebrating a mile-stone anniversary and those preparing to marry this year, to our Diocesan Thanksgiving Mass for Marriage at Saint Chad’s Cathedral on Saturday May 2nd 2026 at 12 noon, followed by light refreshments.
