THIS WEDNESDAY IS ASH WEDNESDAY  LENT BEGINS – Distribution of ashes will take place during Mass in church at 10.00am and 7.00pm. It is a day of fasting and abstinence (from meat).

STATIONS OF THE CROSS IN LENT – Lenten Stations of the Cross will take place in church at 12 noon every Friday. These will be followed  by a ‘’Soup and Roll’’ lunch in the Church Hall. Volunteer soup makers are needed.  Will volunteers please sign the list in the church porch. 2 soup makers required for each Friday in Lent. For parishioners who work during the week, is there a wish for a further Stations of the Cross to take place at some time during the weekend? If so, please let Father Neil know.

CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATES – For those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on February 5th, please collect your certificate from the Sacristy.

ANNUAL DIOCESAN THANKSGIVING MASS FOR MARRIAGE – An invitation is extended to married couples, those celebrating a mile-stone anniversary and those preparing to marry this year, to our Diocesan Thanksgiving Mass for Marriage at Saint Chad’s Cathedral on Saturday May 2nd 2026 at 12 noon, followed by light refreshments. SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint Peter Damian (1007-1072)   was a Benedictine monk. He was the author of many important works on liturgy, theology and morals. Having served as an abbot, Saint Peter was made Bishop of Ostia in 1057. He supported Gregory VII in his struggle for the rights of the Church. He was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1828. His feast is celebrated on February 21st.
