CHURCH OFFERINGS – It may surprise parishioners to know that the weekly giving in 2015 was between £1,100 and £1,300 per week. Eleven years later, 2026, it remains much the same. Yet, in that time, inflation has meant that we are receiving some 30% less income each week. Father Neil knows that times are not easy but would encourage parishioners to think again about their offering especially if they give by Standing Order or by Direct Debit and have not amended it for years.

PART TIME SUPERVISOR FOR THE NEWMAN CENTRE – The Newman Centre is a charitable work of the Parish of Saint Nicholas, Boldmere. It offers resources of a community centre to groups and individuals in Boldmere and surrounding areas. There is a vacancy for a part time Supervisor, working 10 hours a week as required and offering regular opportunities for overtime. Wage £12.72 per hour. For further information please contact Kaye O’Keeffe, the Hall Manager. Email newmancc.boldmere@rcaob.org.uk or call 0121 321 2285

SAINT OF THE WEEK – Saint Blaise.  Very few facts are known about Saint Blaise. It is believed that he was a Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia and was martyred in the reign of Licinius in the early fourth century. Many remember Saint Blaise’s feast day because of the blessing of throats. Saint Blaise’s protection of those with throat troubles comes from a legend that a boy was brought to him who had a fish bone stuck in his throat. The boy was about to die when Saint Blaise healed him. He is patron saint of throat illnesses. His feast day is February 3rd
