FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2026 – Parents of children in Year 3 in Holy Cross School or any other local school wishing their child to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time in June 2026, must attend a meeting in Holy Cross Church on Thursday October 23rd at 6.00pm.

THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2026 – Parents of children in Year 6 in Holy Cross School or in year 6 in any other local school wishing their child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in February 2026, must attend a meeting in Holy Cross Church on Thursday October 23rd at 6.45pm.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO GREECE – ‘IN THE STEPS OF SAINT PAUL’ The parish pilgrims leave for Greece on Friday October 3rd and return on Friday 0ctober 10th. All parishioners will be remembered in our Masses and prayers.

SUTTON COLDFIELD CATENIANS – Sutton Coldfield Catenians are holding their Annual Charity Race Night on Monday October 13th at 7.30pm at Moor Hall Hotel. Cost £20.00 includes a two course meal. SAINT OF THE WEEK Saint Jerome (340-420) Saint Jerome was born in Dalmatia (present day Croatia). He studied in Rome where he was baptised. He chose monastic life and went to Syria where he was ordained a priest. He went back to Rome as secretary to Pope Damasus, who commissioned him to revise the Latin text of the Bible. He went to Bethlehem to work on this project. His work is known as the Vulgate which the Church has adopted as ther official version. He also wrote many other works, mostly commentaries of the Bible. His feast is celebrated on September 30th.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK IN OUR PARISH – May the Lord grant them consolation, peace and healing and to all involved in health care in hospital or in the community, grace, strength and perseverance.

+ REST IN PEACE + Please pray for the souls of Brigid Moyles, Susan Deacon and Tony Turfrey who all died recently. Brigid will be received into church at 4.00pm this Sunday. Her Requiem Mass will be celebrated here at 11.00am on Monday September 29th. Susan’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated here on Tuesday October 21st at 10.00am. Funeral arrangements for Tony will be announced later.
